🏍️ APC Rally – 8 Day Adventure Ride

Since 2010, the APC Rally has been Australia’s original long-distance adventure ride — created by John Hudson for riders who want a real challenge, not a guided tour.

The 2025 APC Rally is an 8-day, 4,753 km loop that takes you across the High Country, the Great Dividing Range, the NSW coastline, and deep into Western NSW — the best adventure terrain in the country.

All start and finish points loop back to the same location.
The rally wraps up on a Saturday night, giving you Sunday to travel home.

🧭 About the Route

The APC Rally is a self-guided GPS ride designed to suit every type of adventure rider — from first-timers to hardened outback veterans.

• Distance: ~ 4,753 km

• Course: Full loop of Australia’s best riding terrain

• Easy bypass options around difficult sections

• Suitable for both light and heavy ADV bikes

• Group re-joins each day for social riding

Riders receive detailed GPX maps and track notes. You’ll need a working GPS or navigation app such as GAIA GPS loaded with the course before departure.

You can ride solo or with mates — you’ll always meet fellow riders out on the course.

💥 Ride Options

Option 1 – Planned Ride (Accommodation Booked) – $890
Ride as part of a small group, starting and finishing at the same locations each day.

• Perfect for social riders who prefer a bed and a hot shower each night

• 30 positions per start point

• Accommodation list provided 7 Jan 2025 (riders make their own bookings)

Option 2 – Non-Planned Ride – $890
Ride at your own pace, choose when to stop, and camp or book pubs along the way.
Most towns are within 100 km of each other, making it easy to find fuel and a feed.

Option 3 – Personal Challenge Ride – $890
For the toughest riders — complete the full course as fast as possible between 6 am – 6 pm each day.

• SPOT Tracker required for live tracking

• All tough options must be completed

• Results verified daily and shared publicly

• Sydney – 7 March @ Rag & Famish Hotel (3 pm Saturday)

🏞️ Ride Information

• Timing: March 2025 – chosen for warm weather and light packing

• Fuel range: 250 km minimum (300 km recommended)

• Tyres: One set for the entire rally

  • Recommended: MOTOZ Tractionator Adventure Rear | Pirelli Scorpion Rally Front

  • Tubes: Ultra-heavy 5 mm | 28 PSI

🧳 Gear & Prep

GPS Navigation:

• Recommended: Garmin Montana or Zumo XT 2 (hard-wired, no SD card needed)

Riding Gear:

• Quality boots, helmet, gloves, goggles, CamelBak (2 L min)

Packing List (Keep It Light):

• 3 pairs socks / jocks, 2 T-shirts, jeans, jumper, shorts, casual shoes

• Personal items (toothbrush, deodorant, lip balm, pain relief)

• Camping gear (optional)

• Wet-weather kit (2 sizes up to fit over riding gear)

Tools & Spares:

• Tyre levers × 2 | Gas bottles × 6 | Ring spanners 6–17 mm

• Spare tubes, fuses, fuel filter, zip ties, filter oil, clutch lever, bolts

• Carry in a compact tool roll

Luggage:

• Soft panniers recommended — Nomad Moto are the best choice

• Use ratchet straps & dry bags for creek crossings

• Pack pub gear on top for easy unpack each night

Bike Prep:

• Loctite bolts (esp. rear subframe)

• Heavier front springs recommended

• Fresh wheel bearings, filters, oil change

• Fit fuel bladders for extra range

• Travel Insurance: InsureAndGo Gold ~ $60

• Spinal Cover: pbf.asn.au ~ $48 / yr ($250 k benefit)

• Roadside Assist: RACQ Ultimate ~ $280

In an emergency, call 000 and administer first aid.
To ensure insurance coverage, refer to the ride as an independent trip, not an “event.”

1. Complete entry and payment

2. Purchase and install GPS unit on bike

3. Prep bike in January (allow for parts delays)

4. Attend GPS loading night or mail GPS to HQ

5. Receive track notes 2 weeks before the ride

6. Start with full tank, water, and cash for fuel & meals
